Almost everyone loves Motown classics. This is a Motown album for a new generation, taking such songs as Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On, Jackson 5 - I Want You Back, and Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delievered and changing the landscape of the songs while keeping the foundations. The great part about this album is it can be played in mixed company, older and younger people alike will appreciate this CD. At the club I DJ at, I often times play songs from this on parent's weekends when there is an older crowd in the bar and it goes over well. I stumbled upon this website awhile ago and as a DJ and lover of music am a huge fan of what this site is doing. This is a mecca of sounds and songs that are a musician or music writers dream, where people are proud to have their songs remixed and where people want to hear the work you can do. Splice even provides a mixer for you to put your different samples and loops on different channels and cue their entrances. If that sounds interesting make your way over to Splice and show off your beat droppin' skills.
Stop! Before reading this article and listening to this album come with an open mind...ready? I did that not because this is a bad album (why would I post it?) but because this is not like any album you have ever listened to. Jason Forrest, previously known as Donna Summer, is in expert in expressionistic, experimental electronica. Noisy maximalism is probably the best way to convey what you are about to hear yet it is highly recommended by The Style Lounge! Our favorite track is "Spectacle to Refute All Judgements" in which Jason samples The Whispers to create some insane beats! Also we love the cover which is what you see to the left! This is one of the chill house classics! Anyone who is a "House Music Aficionado" like myself should have this album in their music library! I know the album cover is freakin' sexy but the music inside is even more beautiful. This album was Miguel Migs breakthrough as a good to great artist. Check out Miguel's music!
Electrolush is a album from one of the most progressive and chic labels in the music industry, Om Records. Electrolush features "the very best of minimal and electro nouveau" according the cover and it does not lie. As a dj, I am always searching for not only the newest music but also music trends and genres. This album showcases the some of the best Electro around featuring tracks by LandShark, Wonderland Avenue, Chuck Love, Greenskeepers, Freeform Five, and Andy Caldwell but every track on these two discs is something special.
